Midlife Courage
“Midlife is when the universe gently places her hands upon your shoulders, pulls you close, and whispers in your ear:
I'm not screwing around. ... It's time to show up and be seen."
Celebrating my 56th Birthday in 2024
I’m thrilled to meet you!
Hi, I’m Sal Robertson,
the Founder of
The Midlife Courage Lab
I'm a 57 year old life + business coach, business owner and mother of three wonderful humans (ages 25, 23 and 18) and two equally wonderful one year old puppies, Bruno and Rocky.
I believe - wholeheartedly - that at midlife it’s too late NOT to pursue some of your bigger and bolder dreams. If there are things that you’ve always wanted to do, later is here. It’s time.
My mission is to encourage women in their 50's to start to show up as their most brilliant, creative and unapologetic selves.

The Manifesto
I have created the Midlife Courage Manifesto to share quotes from writers who have acted as lighthouses for me on my own Midlife Courage journey.
I hope that they inspire and guide you in the way that they have inspired and guided me.
Hey you!
Are there things that you want to do that you have put on hold for years, maybe even decades?
If you are feeling any combination of exhausted/frustrated/furious/
resigned/confused by your inability to do the things you know that you want to do, you're in the right place.
My mission with the Midlife Courage Lab is to help women in their 50's to figure out WTF is keeping them stuck so that they can get unstuck and become their most creative, most brilliant and most unapologetic selves.
I want you to write the books that only you can write, start the businesses that only you can start, travel the world, do stand up comedy, paint, photograph, draw, sculpt. Whatever it is, that you know you're here to do.
Sal xoxo

How we can work together
Are you feeling stuck or “on hold” in your life. Waiting for “later”.
In my experience, when you are feeling stuck or "on hold" in any area of your life, one (or more) of three things is happening:
1. You're not clear on what you want - maybe you've been too busy living someone else's version of success or happiness or you've been living a safe and cautious life and you know for sure that you have a much, much, much more interesting and satisfying life in you; or
2. You know what you want but you don't know how to make it happen; or
3. You know what you want and you have a pretty clear idea of what you would need to do to make it happen but you just can't seem to find the time, energy or courage to make the changes you want to make. It starts to feel as if the biggest thing getting in your way is you which just feeds into the cycle of resistance/regret/fury/resignation. This is the aspect of "stuckness" that I've lived most closely with for the past few decades. I could have earned a PhD in procrastination but I never got round to it ...
What I've learned is that it's the third element - the resistance and fear - that needs to be looked at first.
All the knowing and planning in the world won't get you anywhere if you still find yourself firmly and resolutely stuck.
My mission with The Midlife Courage Lab is to help women to get unstuck after fifty so that they can live lives that bring them the greatest joy and the deepest satisfaction.
